Friday Favorites Week 23

While I won’t complain about it being Friday, I think it’s about time someone invents a way to slow time down. Seriously. This may not have been my best week, but I’m still amazed that it’s basically over already! So someone get on that…

If you’re new to My Urban Family – welcome! Each Friday I round up my favorites from the past week – videos, photos, stories, products – anything really as well as updates from my life. Let’s dive in!

Don’t tell me Chicago isn’t wonderfully beautiful!

If you’ve been to this blog before you probably know that I’m trying to move into the heart of Chicago. This unit was sent to me a few days ago and then I saw it start to go viral on the internet. It gives me a headache but the photos are worth looking through anyway. I won’t be moving here, but I’d love to hear of someone moving in and leaving it just the way it is. You can see all of the photos HERE.

Friday favorites politics

I generally don’t hesitate to talk about many topics however this whole election scares me. Maybe it’s just because I’m older, but everyone seems to be even more opinionated this time around and about vastly polarizing candidates. I’d be happy to weigh in with my opinion if anyone cares to read about it, but for now I will just leave this funny image here.

Sleeping Position and Personality

I’m not sure how much science is behind this, but it was still fun to check out. I sleep like #6 most of the time and it fits me fairly well. On Wednesdays post I was even complaining about how I feel indecisive because no decisions ever feel black and white anymore. What about you – does your sleeping position match the personality they have listed HERE?

What I’ve been Up To

Lately it’s been a ton of freelance graphic design work! Which is good considering I pretty much avoided the real world for a couple of weeks over the holidays. But work tends to come in waves in the freelance world and I’m trying to keep this one going for awhile. If you or anyone you know is looking for graphic design work, check out my website HERE and shoot me a message!

Dear Realtors – Please Don’t Forget – This is Not Just a House, This is My Home

  1. Oh the green in that condo! And the perfume bottles. When we house hunted you’d be surprised how many places were never updated one bit. Crazy. I was a #6 sleeper for. Ever. But for the past 5 years or so I’m a 5. Go figure.

    • I have no idea how you sleep as a 5 haha It looks so uncomfortable! And it is fun to see into homes that seem to be untouched by time.

  2. That sleeping position article was fun to read. It’s actually semi-accurate! That condo is so groovy! So much green! Enjoy the weekend!

  3. Interesting article on sleep position and personality! It says my perfect creative outlet is writing a blog, so I’d say it’s pretty spot on 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend!!

  4. That condo… I can’t even. Bahahaha!
You know I always love your Chi-town pics; this one is exceptionally pretty.

As for sleeping, I can’t decide which position I sleep in. Either on my side, knees out or on my stomach. Somewhat accurate but laughable in some days. I will not be smiling on a cold, wintery day, I’ll tell you that much.
Isn’t it bizarre when we’re young, we just want to grow up but yet when we’re there, we want nothing more than to slow down or pause time. Time is such a weird thing; I wish there was more of it.

Have a great weekend hun! xo

    • It is funny how life works like that. Grass always seems to be a bit greener on the other side I suppose. We definitely need more time in the day/week/month/year though!

  5. I feel like I never sleep the same way twice because between a husband who more than monopolizes the bed, a yellow lab who likes to sleep either in my knee nook or like a human between my hubs and me, and this big of belly, I just can’t. Though, #6 is basically the best way to sleep when you’re pregnant and want to sleep on your stomach so you’re ahead of the curve!

    • Ha Glad to hear I’m ahead of the curve! And I have no idea how you sleep like that – I have a king bed that I share with just my husband and I get cranky just when he kind of gets in my way haha

  6. Haha wow that condo is crazy! That sleep positions thing is so interesting! I feel like I’m a combo of a couple of them–so funny! Enjoy your weekend!

  7. Just finished reading the sleep position article. Well, the two positions I sleep in fit me to a tee. Fun to read. Visiting you from Happy Friday linkup. Hoping this week is full of fun and happy things for you.

  8. That Chicago skyline picture is stunning!

I’m with you that I try to avoid talking about politics in general, but YES on this year’s election being scary and the candidates being polarizing. I’m already bracing myself for all the mud-slinging political advertisements soon to come, plus all the robocalls on behalf of local candidates. Blech.

    • Ugh I didn’t even think about the robocalls! I predict I’ll be blocking a lot of numbers this year.

  9. Oh wow – that photo of the Chicago port is breathtaking! Thanks for sharing on #FridayFrivolity. Please join us again next week.

  10. Cool read – thank you!

  11. I sleep like #6 too most of the time.. feel kinda bad for the overstrung uptight lady in #5.. who can you sleep like that!

  12. I love reading people’s favorites- and I love how you feature what you are doing lately too! My main sleeping position I know is probably number 1- but more sprawled out 🙂 lol
