Friday Favorites Week 22

Whew, another Friday! Even though I didn’t have Monday off per say, I did take the day off from the blog world so it’s felt extra short this week. I will be back in full force next week with at least three posts for you – but for now, it’s time for Friday Favorites!

If you’re new to My Urban Family – welcome! Each Friday I round up my favorites from the past week – videos, photos, stories, products – anything really as well as updates from my life. Let’s dive in!

I have major anxiety about heights. So naturally I am drawn to photos from angles I will *hopefully* never be at – and this one is beautiful.

Ruling Over a Castle in Cork

From 2:18am – 2:21am on Thursday I officially reigned over a castle in Doonawanly, Castletownroche, Co. Cork. How? Well Cards Against Humanitydeemed it so, of course. As part of their sensible holiday gifts, each customer received three minutes to rule over the castle purchased just for the occasion. Last year I was gifted a square foot of a private island which I actually have the deed to.

If you’re not familiar with Cards Against HumanityI suggest purchasing the game right now. Play it with your loved ones. Laugh a lot. And the support everything the creators do, because they’re pretty awesome.

Parenting Skills Test

I have no idea how parents of twins do it. The video cracks me up and amazes me. I’m guessing a lot of patience is learned along the way haha.

Tire Inflator

Have I mentioned how COLD it is in Chicago lately? Yes? Well apparently the cold effects things like tires – Ok, I knew this. But I still wasn’t thinking about it when I decided to hide out in my house for three days and not leave. And then the other day I was running late and get in my car only to be told that all four of my tires were way under pressure. Oops. Luckily I had a Digital Tire Inflatorin my car and I was able to fill up and head out quickly. Life saver!

Secrets of Legends of the Hidden Temple

If you ever watched Legends of the Hidden Temple, this video is worth a quick listen. Looking back, I know how awful that show really was… but in such a great, great way.

Life Update

We officially listed our house a week from yesterday. Over the weekend we had five showings and then the week was eerily quiet. However tomorrow we have another showing lined up and then an open house. We’re still trying to keep positive over here but I’m also getting a bit antsy. I know, I know, it has barely been a week.

Aside from playing the waiting game with the house, I’ve been bitten by the travel bug again. It has been a year since we went to Europe. I don’t think another large trip like that is in the cards but I’m itching to plan a short weekend getaway. Any suggestions?

A Valentine’s Gift Guide for When You’re Out of Ideas

  1. The low gas prices are finally bringing airfares down. Makes me really wanna plan something! Gorgeous Chi pic! All the best with your showings and open house!

    • Thanks! And I know! I filled up my tank for $20 over the weekend and was tempted to just keep driving past home and go on an adventure. To bad there is nothing much to drive to when it’s cold out around here ha

  2. My dad gave both my sister and I tire inflators to store in the trunks of our cars for Christmas this year. HA! With him in Chicago, me in Grand Rapids and my sister in Baltimore, he’ll feel helpless if he knows we’re stuck! It’s a gift for him as much as it is for us! 😉

  3. Chicago is beautiful from that angle!

  4. What a beautiful pic from Chicago! Good luck with the showing and open house! Happy Friday xxx

  5. It’s been super cold here to the tires are constantly screaming at me that they’re low, too.
It’s been a LONG week! I’m so glad that it’s Friday, however I’m working this weekend as I agreed to work for a girl that came back from Cuba a week ago and wait for it… She has dengue fever. So, 37 individual visit is in just over 48 hours. I really hope we don’t get the aftermath of Jonas up here in Ontario, Canada.

Have a good weekend Hun, xo!

    • I hope you were spared the snow! Looks like the East Coast got hit with enough for everyone 😉 And I hope your weekend went well despite working!!

  6. I love that picture of Chicago! I’ve never played Cards Against Humanity, but I now I really want to. And I’ve got a great weekend idea for you…you can come to Milwaukee and hang with my twins 😉 That video is no joke.

    • Haha I’m sure the video is no joke! And you really should play sometime – though I wouldn’t play in front of the kids…

  7. Deep breaths about the house!! Everything will fall into place… and it’s only been a week… 😉

I’ve played Cards Against Humanity several times with friends and it is always evilly hilarious. So funny that they give out Christmas gifts too? I’d totally go camping on that square foot of private island if I were you… in a very, narrow, standing room only tent…. ;P

    • I know! But it’s the second time we’ve had the house on the market and I used up all my patience that time around haha And I kind of want to visit and find my one square foot!

  8. Ugh that tire thing happened to me last year in the winter…but i didnt have a tire inflator….and they were all completely flat! 🙁 I have since learned my lesson haha!
    Love that picture of Chicago!

    • Ha I learned my lesson after my first flat as well! Though that one I was stuck on the side of the road in a snow storm. Awful!

  9. Good luck with your showings!! I know this is an exciting and nerve-wracking time!! Hope y’all are able to enjoy your weekend too 🙂

  10. The best part about marrying a mechanic : never having to do car stuff. He’s SO diligent about making sure everything on my car is in tip top shape, so I don’t worry about any of it. Granted, he makes sure I have a car with every/any sensor on the planet for issues, so that helps.
Also, that video kills me. I have NO idea how twin parents do it!! Especially once they’re mobile. Changing Ryan is a who process as it is…

    • That is awesome that your husband does all of that. My husband is just as clueless about cars as I am ha And I know! Twins seem like they require a whole new level of patience!

  11. I was a PE teacher when Legends of the Hidden Temple was on – you better believe I incorporated that into my lesson plans. Thanks for sharing on #FridayFrivolity. Please join us again next week.
